Marsh Creek Country Club Sponsors Their Fourth Habitat Home

Marsh Creek Country Club and its owner, The PARC Group, are sponsoring their fourth Habitat home this year under the Community Contribution Tax Credit Program, a State of Florida program encouraging the building of low income housing. The program offers a financial incentive for corporation s to sponsor a Habitat home by receiving a 50% tax credit based on the appraised value of the homes.

In 2004, Marsh Creek Country Club employee, Erlinda Brownette, became a Habitat homeowner after working with other club members and employees to build the home. John Hewins, General Manager of Marsh Creek Country Club, was her Family Advocate.

In the early years of this affiliate, several Marsh Creek residents served in critical roles in its development: George Ceccanese, Leon and Pierrette Goddette, John Meyer and Jacques Dardenne. Club members, employees and residents continue to volunteer for Habitat with some unusual and creative ways to contribute: Dennis Donahue donated a 1993 Corvette; Time and Sharon Haszard have raised almost $1,000 entertaining at Marsh Creek Happy Hours; The Marsh Creek Chorale raised almost $4,000 from its performance of "My Fairway Ladies;" Peter Spiller raised over $1,000 from his 250k run in Costa Rico.

Marsh Creek residents, members and employees are dedicated construction workers and leaders whose energy and skills will be important in the construction of the projected twelve homes this year. Others serve on committees, help with accounting and public relations. "There is no part of our Habitat affiliate that has not been positively affected by the residents, employees and members of Marsh Creek," President Eliot Smith said. "We thank you for all that you have done and continue to do."
